Australian Diamonds Netball coach Lisa Alexander was in Cobar last week and it seems the Cobar netball community made a big impression on her.

Lisa said it had been “an absolute honour and a privilege” to visit Cobar.

“I was humbled by the generosity of this most beautiful community,” Lisa said.

She said it had been wonderful to be able to play a role in bringing the Australia Post One Netball program to regional communities such as ours.

“Regional Australia is very close to my heart and it’s a privilege to be able to visit towns like Cobar and show support during these tough times.”

The event is the result of Australia Post team member Hayley Walker (a keen local Cobar Netball player) winning a nation-wide competition run by Australia Post in which staff had the opportunity to submit an entry explaining why their netball club should receive a visit from an elite netball representative.

Australia Post said it was evident in Hayley’s entry that she was passionate about netball and that resonated with them.

They were also impressed that Hayley said the Cobar club had been “the most amazing club” she had ever been apart of.
