The Cobar Netball Association 2018 season came to a close on Friday night, with their end of season presentations at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.

B Grade’s Best and Fairest trophy went to Wildcats’ Stevie Long with Sharpe Shooters Katrina Francisco the runner-up.

In her president’s speech at Friday’s presentations, Haylee Prince reported a total of nine teams were registered this season with five team contesting the A Grade competition and four played in B Grade.

Three complete rounds were played in each grade.

Mrs Prince said the club was well represented with an Opens and an Under 13s team this year playing in State League and State competitions respectively.

She was pleased to report two newly badged umpires had joined the club’s continually growing number of badge umpires this season and a number of new volunteers had also joined the association this year.

Mrs Prince said the association’s project to resurface the netball courts is currently underway with tenders now being called for the work.

She advised members that the current four courts will however be reduced to three courts to accommodate the required spacing between courts.

She said the new courts will also be marked for a FAST5 competition in the hope of running a mixed Fast 5 competition next year.

The new courts are due for completion in early 2019.
