The Cobar combination of Sue Phillips and Fay Hardwick proved too strong for the large field of contenders in the Western Districts Ladies Golf Association (WDLGA) Keno Four-Ball-Best-Ball competition final in Trangie on Friday.

The pair won the final with a massive +16 score.

The win entitles the pair to now go on to the next stage of the competition to be held on the grass greens of Bonville later in the year.

The other Cobar team of Marlene Wynd and Janine Ryan had a wonderful day as well finishing with a great score of +12.

In last Wednesday’s Stableford event at home Chrissy Gilligan won the day with 41 points followed by Jannine Wilkin with 40.

Janine Ryan was next best scoring 37 with Di Greer on 35.

Greer also had a Nearest the Pin win on the 8th hole while Pat Polack was closest to the flag on the 11th.

Very windy conditions for the weekend didn’t deter too many golfers with 16 players taking to the course on Saturday for an American event.

Marlene Wynd and Janine Ryan teamed up again and won the day with 71 3/8 net score just in front of Narelle Kriz and Jannine Wilkin on 72 1/4 net.

Karen Manns and Angela Fryer recorded 73 1/4 net while Ann Dunn and Barb Barklimore came in next with 74 1/4 net.

Nearest the Pin prizes went to Janine Ryan, Narelle Kriz (3) and Ann Dunn.

The annual Pink Day three person Ambrose to raise money for breast cancer was played on Sunday with the “very glamorous” team of Karen Walsh, Pat Polack and Narelle Kriz (with 41 points), declared the winners, both on and off the course.

The individual ball competition played in conjunction with the Ambrose game went the way of Tina Gordon with a big score of 46 points and a reduction in her handicap.

Janine Ryan finished off a successful week scoring 40 points followed by Pat Polack and Robynne Morton (both with 38), Ev Hyde and Angela Fryer (both had 37) and Ann Dunn and Gloria Hay recorded 36 points each. Janine Ryan (2), Brenda Fugar, Narelle Kriz and Tina Gordon all won Nearest the Pin prizes.

Today will be a Par game and for those wishing to travel, the Narromine Open is scheduled as well.
