Young Roosters divided and conquered

The Cobar Roosters Under 14s and Under 10s side both had good wins in the in the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition on Saturday.

The Cobar club divided and conquered on Saturday with their four teams playing their matches in three different towns.

The Cobar Under 14s had a big 44-8 win over Narromine at Narromine.

Reynold Mugugia and Elias Aumua ran in three tries each for the Roosters with Ryley Morley crossing twice and Zane Taylor also scored.

Ryan Urquhart added the extra points with four successful conversions.

Cobar’s Under 10s played a thriller of a game at Wellington and finished with a 26-20 win. Cobar’s point scorers included: Kai McCosker (2 tries); Jay Lamond (try and a goal); Jaxon Burke (try and a goal); Axel Fairfull (try); and Jack Rogers (goal).

Jay Lamond and Sam Dunne shared the Coach’s Award.

The Under 11s side had a bye this weekend.

The Roosters Under 12s were beaten 30-10 by Wellington at Wellington.

Kai Taylor scored a try and a goal and Jamal Eves also ran in a try for the Cobar side.

Oisin McMullen and Kai Taylor earned the Coach’s Awards.

The Under 16s put on a good show at Nyngan up against the junior Tigers despite the final score showing 44-10 in Nyngan’s favour.

Khan McMurray ran in a try with Ben Griffiths adding the other six points to the tally with his try and a conversion.

Ted Smith and Tyler Coughlan were stand outs in the match to collect the Coach’s Awards.

In Sunday’s games, the Under 9s Coach’s Awards went to Cohan Nicholson and Jacob Chandler while in the Minis division, Jax Claus and Ryan Jiang collected the Coach’s Awards.

In other junior rugby league news, Zane Taylor played two trial games with the Group 11 Under 14s team on Sunday and they finished with a good win over Red Bend Catholic College and a draw with a combined Under 15s Dubbo St John’s/Dubbo Souths side.

Zane played his first game of footy in six weeks on Saturday with the Cobar side having suffered two successive injuries and he was thrilled to be back on the field on the weekend.
