Kamikaze crowned Squalleyball kings

Kamikaze Pilots Luke Anderson, Nicole Bruce, Colby Lawrence and Nikki Gilbert won last Thursday’s Squalleyball grand final 3-1 over BNB.

The stage was well and truly set for an exiting showdown in the Squalleyball grand final on Thursday night at the youth centre.

The competition’s two top teams, Kamikaze Pilots and BNB, both of which are former competition champions, went head to head last week with Kamikaze Pilots coming out on top.

The Pilots’ Colby Lawrence, Luke Anderson, Nicole Bruce and Nikki Gilbert, gelled well as a team.

Team mate Nicole Bruce was in sensational form, and played her best match of the
season.

They started off on the right foot and dominated the court to win the first game by a big 10 points margin, 21-11.

BNB fought back in the second game and with Adam Buckman outstanding at the net, he led his BNB side in a fight back.

A first game ankle injury to Latisha Bennett, looked of concern (and was later found to be broken) but she played on and helped her BNB side to win the second game 21-15.

After numerous tough rallies Kamikaze Pilots won the third game 21-15 and were all fired up going into the fourth.

BNB continued to fight hard, however Kamikaze Pilots proved they were the better team on the night and won the decider 21-15 to finish the match with a 3-1 win.
