Giving MS a Vegas goodbye

A Vegas-style casino fundraising night at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club on Saturday, organised by local girl Kristie Manns, was a big hit with more than $8,000 raised from the night to go towards research into finding a cure for MS (Multiple Sclerosis). In addition to Poker, Black Jack and Roulette tables, there was also a psychic, photo booth, live band, sumptuous food by Abby’s, raffles and auctions. Kristie (pictured above at centre with friends and family who helped with the fundraiser) was diagnosed in June 2016 with RRMS (Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis) and is keen to help find a cure. Instead of having a 25th birthday party, she decided to use the occasion as a fundraiser. MS affects the central nervous system and impairs a person’s motor, sensory and cognitive functions. The list of symptoms is lengthy and varies greatly from person to person. While there are a number of treatments available, there is no cure, but Kristie is hoping to help find one.
