Nymagee continues on winning way

Nymagee continued on their winning way beating Empire on Saturday in the senior cricket 40 Overs competition.

Batting first, Nymagee made 5/173 from their 40 overs.

Every batsman made a start but were unable to go on and post a big score as Empire’s bowlers bowled a tight line throughout the innings.

Nymagee’s Stephen Nicholson top-scored with the bat with 47.

He was supported by older brother Matthew (26), Tony Polack (22 not out), Roger Mitchell (21) and Mitchell Holt (20).

Travis Dunlevy was the best of the Empire bowlers taking 2/35 while Daryl Curtis took 2/39 and Tarun Reddy 1/29.

In reply, Empire was bowled out for 125 in the 30th over.

After losing the prized big wickets of Clay Neale (3), Travis Dunlevy (12) and Jake Harbison (9) cheaply, Vikram Pirohit and David Watson came together and built a partnership that put the pressure back on Nymagee.

The pair played with a sense of urgency and were getting on top of the Nymagee bowlers before Pirohit fell for 26 runs right before the drinks break.

Watson continued on, but he was later dismissed for 42 which then caused a batting collapse.

Empire lost their last five wickets for only three runs.

Tony Polack returned the best bowling figures for Nymagee taking 3/33, Jade Buckman had 3/44, Mitchell Holt finished with 2/28 and Joe Regan 1/12.—contributed
