The 2015 Atlas Copco Cobar Ladies Golf Open on Sunday was played to a 18 hole format this year instead of the usual 27 holes to accommodate travellers for the event.

Disappointing for Cobar, not many out of town lady golfers made the trip but those who did were among the 39 starters treated to great weather, a wonderfully prepared course, lovely food and renewed friendships.

Jenny Stephenson from Broken Hill, a regular visitor to Cobar, was this year’s Open Scratch winner.

Chrissy Gilligan was the scratch runner-up in A Grade.

Angela Fryer won the 18 hole net with R. Newton from Walgett the net runner-up.

The 9 hole scratch was taken out by Janet Place while Trish Vincent from Tottenham was the runner-up for A grade.

Brenda Fugar won the 9 hole net with Geraldine Francisco the runner-up in this section.

In A Grade  Robyn Harris from Nyngan won the nearest the pin prize and Jenny Stephenson the longest drive.

In B Grade Pam Sikora just nudged out niece Karen Warren to win the 18 hole scratch title.

Warren, a ‘Baby Vet’, (who found out life is good after 50) was not only the runner-up in the scratch title but also went on to win the best Veterans 18 hole net score on the day, was a member of the winning team along with Pam Sikora and Jenny Stephenson, plus won the pairs trophy with Stephenson.

Warren was also presented with the prestigious B & B Bartlett Award for the best 18 hole net local player.

The net winner in B Grade was Glenis Prisk (and she also won the best Grandmother award) and Lize Stander was the net runner-up.

Jenny Murray from Coonamble won the 9 hole scratch from Wan Sipatsa and Jannine Wilkin the 9 hole net from Pam Richards (Hillston) who also took out the nearest the pin prize.

Di Greer hit the longest drive in this grade.

The long trek from Hillston paid off for Kay Irvine who was crowned the C Grade scratch and longest drive winner.

Deb Reko, also from Hillston, won the nearest the pin and 18 hole scratch runner up prizes.

The 18 hole net champion was Bessie Kitson who also won the Vi McLaughlin Memorial Trophy for the best net score by a local player in C Grade.

Joy Josephson was the 18 hole net runner-up.  Alma Rogers took out the 9 hole scratch prize.

The New Gold Peak Gold Mine Canadian event played on Saturday attracted 30 starters.

Pam Sikora with team mate Jenny Stephenson used this game as a good warm up for the Ladies Open by winning the event by two shots over Sue-Ellen Dunne and Chrissy Gilligan.
