A big week of women’s golf kicked off last Wednesday with a Par game that was won by Jannine Wilkin.

Wilkin finished with a score of +1 after a countback and was declared the winner over Susan Goonrey, who also finished with +1.

Daphne Cross claimed third spot with -1 and Di Greer was 4th with -3.

Wilkin also picked up both Nearest the Pin prizes on the 7th and 15th holes.

Karen Manns and Angela Fryer won the prestigious Vi McLachlan Memorial Ladies’ Golf Day on Saturday (which was played in conjunction with the Men’s Billy Bartlett Memorial Day).

Sally Bannister and Geraldine Francisco were runners-up followed by Daphne Cross and Robynne Morton, Ann Dunn and Marlene Wynd, Di McLeod and Jannine Wilkin with Pat Polack and Pam Sikora back in 6th place.

Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Jackie Smith (3), Geraldine Francisco and Jannine Wilkin.

Barb Bartlett did a great job of looking after all the hungry golfers with a meal after both events were finished.

The Cobar Women’s Golf Pennants team last week were victorious over Trangie winning all five of their matches.

The team, consisting of Sally Bannister, Angela Fryer, Geraldine Francisco, Jannine Wilkin and Pat Polack, had to give their opposing players between four to 13 shots and still came away comfortable winners in all games.

Cobar now have an anxious wait for the results of the Trangie versus Narromine game later in the month to see if they will advance to the next round.

A Stableford game on Sunday had Geraldine Francisco take the winner’s prize with 40 points ahead of Marlene Wynd on 35.

Robynne Morton was next with 34 while Sally Bannister scored 31.

Di Greer picked up the Nearest the Pin prize on the 8th hole while Geraldine Francisco grabbed the one on the 11th.

The results were reversed in Monday’s Stableford game when Marlene Wynd posted 39 points to claim first place from Geraldine Francisco on 37.

Countbacks were then needed to separate Susan Goonrey and Daphne Cross (35 points each) as well as Jannine Wilkin and Di McLeod (34 each).

Nearest the Pin shots were recorded by Geraldine Francisco and Angela Fryer on the 3rd and 15th holes respectively.

A Stroke + Scratch event will take place on Saturday and a Stableford is scheduled for Sunday.—T’d Off
