Seasoned golfers on the course

The Cobar Veterans Golf Day, which incorporated the Macquarie Valley Veteran Championships, finally went ahead on Friday, after rain had previously twice postponed the event.

Women’s and Men’s tournaments were conducted with Cobar’s Peter Brien the winner of the men’s division while Trish Vincent from Tottenham took out the women’s title.

In the women’s event local golfer Fay Hardwick was the A Grade winner over Chrissy Gilligan (second) and Linda McCutcheon from Trangie was third.

Alma Rogers won the B Grade title over Di McLeod (second) and Bessie Kitson finished third.

Ann Dunn won the Nearest the Pin prize on the 3rd hole, Linda McCutcheon won the 7th, Trish Vincent grabbed the 8th, Pam Sikora claimed the 11th and Jannine Wilkin won the prize on the 15th.

Linda McCutcheon won the Longest Drive in A Grade and B Grade’s Longest Drive was recorded by Barb Barklimore.

In the men’s competition Bruce Mitchell was the A Grade winner from A Bullock (visitor) and Phil Gilligan was third.

Visitors featured in the top three places in B Grade with N Brennan the winner from S McCallum second and K McNair was third.

Nearest the Pins prizes were won by John Collins on the 3rd hole, Bruce Mitchell on the 8th and Will Brown on the 15th.

Phil Gilligan recorded the Longest Drive in A Grade and Scott Mayne had the Longest Drive in B Grade.
