Following a raft of positive feedback about the mural she painted at the Newey Reserve, local artist Seigrid Peters has been contracted by Cobar Shire Council to create more of her unique artworks to help bright-en up the CBD.
Seigrid has been working over the past week creating mini murals on the electrical distribu-tion boxes around the CBD.
As a representation of the local area, she’s working to an agriculture theme with goats, working dogs, sheep, cattle, horses and crops her main subjects.
Seigrid said she has been incredibly lucky to be able to share her artwork throughout the main street which is catching the attention of lots of locals and visitors.
“I’ve spoken to so many tourists today, it’s amazing to see just how many people are com-ing to visit Cobar,” Seigrid said on Friday.
Council has also invited Seigrid to be its new delegate on the Outback Arts board.
Cobar Shire contributes $10,000 per year to be a member of Outback Arts which works directly with artists, individuals, community groups and councils to foster and enhance art and cultural activities in the region.
Cobar is one of seven contributing local government areas to Outback Arts along with Bourke, Brewarrina, Nyngan, Coonamble, Walgett and Warren.
As Cobar’s delegate, Seigrid said she is looking forward to taking and receiving ideas for our local community to create more artistic opportunities for our area.
“As someone who is passionate about the arts, hopefully my passion will flow on,” Seigrid told The Cobar Weekly.
