Golf season is drawing to a close

The 2015 season of the local women’s golf competition is fast drawing to a close with only one week’s round of matches left to be played and so far, the weather seems to be on side for the games to take place.

In last Wednesday’s Par game 14 players took to the course on the warmest day of the week (which also ended up being the biggest field with the weekend numbers down).

Gloria Hay was victorious in a four-way countback showdown with Di Greer, Di McLeod and Wan Sipatsa after all ladies finished the day with a score of -1. Sally Bannister was next best on -3 as well as having the nearest the pin shot on the 11 hole. Susan Goonrey picked up pin prize on the 8th hole.

Saturday’s Stableford event had Robynne Morton continuing her good form from last week to take the winner’s prize again with a score of 38 points. Fay Hardwick was the runner-up (35) followed by Elaine Burton and Geraldine Francisco who both scored 32.

Susan Goonrey (7th hole) and Robynne Morton (15th) won nearest the pins prizes.

The Four-Ball-Worst-Ball event on Sunday had 10 players (five teams) taking part in this fun event.

Di McLeod and Ann Dunn partnered up to take the honours after a countback from Pat Polack and Pam Sikora. Both teams had a ‘worst’ score of 25 points. Karen Manns had her eye in on the par 3 holes taking both nearest the pins prizes on offer.

Stableford games will be played this Wednesday and Sunday. A Par game is set down for Saturday and will be a graded draw.
